Interesting question. In an ideal society, of course, there would be no need for anyone to fight at all. Ever.
Personally, I'm not really a fighter - as you will see if you look at my profile here.
But if someone (or another nation) put me in a situation where I MUST stand up for what I believe OR be subjugated, I just don't know if I could/would ever find it within myself to hit out, to FIGHT for my belief in ... being peaceful.
I rejoice that in my lifetime I have not been asked to make this decision - though many have, and have suffered.
Was necessity for me in high school to learn to wrestle for protection against bullies. - I needed to know I could take care of myself so I would not be afraid - gave me a sense of ownership of my own destiny . , being small and therefore vulnerable - I learned how to dodge fists and then wrestle the guy to the ground and put in hold or pin so I could throw punches . . most would leave me alone after that . .
So, this question is for everyone of every style on here. Not matter what you get out of this, I think everyone can answer. So In your opinion, what importance do you think fighting/wrestling has on humanity? How has it's importance impacted you in your daily life or others you may know.
If I were to give me take, I think it's one matter of you learning more about yourself. In the sense of growing to be a better version of yourself, rising to the challenge of that if you may.

I am sad that you felt obliged to learn your fighting/wrestling skills to overcome - and punish - those who had bullied you.
