When I met my wrestling friend (just look at my vids), he was 29at 130lbs, and I was 60 at 185! He wrestled in HS and College so pretty much wiped me every time - and I learned a ton (with a smile).
I can well understand the belief that older v younger or bigger v smaller are ways of testing oneself or giving your opponent the opportunity to test himself. And, there is no doubt that it can provide many a challenge. I believe though that because of differences in stats members have a tendency to rule out matches. When you browse via location or whatever, you will often run across those who have taken on members with extreme variances in stats. Just look at the previous opponents that are pictured below on the member's profile page. What becomes really interesting---and I suggest instructive---is what you find when you then review the recommendations written. Everything else being equal, the younger does not necessarily triumph, even though he may have equal or better skills. And, the bigger guy, again with similar skills as the smaller guy, does not always win. Remember Sinatra singing about the Rubber Tree Plant? Yeah, appearances and assumptions can be deceiving and leaving some if not both individuals in a match somewhat like asses.
Our fellow member, Al, above, to some looks like he would be a pushover. Go ahead, challenge him; but, Reader, you may find yourself eating humble pie.
I just turned 29 in March, the oldest person I've had face me was Gutcheck. I first went against him last summer I believe. I was 28 then, he was 57. I'm typically 135-137, he was 258lbs No I did not win, lol. But it as a lot of fun.
Whats the biggest age difference you been fighting. How old was both ? Size differense ?
Cool if somebody has a story where the smaller and younger guy wins
