Punch, you know a bit about these clubs from the yester years, care to share any stories with us guys? Did they hold these fights at Spike???

I know there were a couple exhibition bouts (wrestling) at the Lure (great leather bar that I miss more than anything now gone from NYC) and as you say at the Spike, but the one that got me going was a brief-lived one right around the time of September 11, 2001 - strange but sort of good timing because it was a place you get your aggression out - I think it we needed an erotic version of that especially then - it was really hot. Mostly wrestling but also some boxing and a big heavy bag to which you could tie a willing piece of punchmeat and work him over. There are some painful memories associated for me with this (different pain from the kind you get from a fat lip) - including one friend and buddy of mine who underwent the punchmeat-on-heavy-bag session I just mentioned - with me and one other guy the punchers. He was a troubled soul, and he - well, he's not here anymore. But he was a sweet soul too and I lavished as much affection on him as I did erotic and stiff good punches which he loved and trusted me to give to him in my signature way: paint you pretty but keep you intact. I miss him a lot. But the fight club was great. It was in the same far west 14th street triangle where the Vault and other sex clubs found a niche for a couple years before the whole 'meatpacking district' lost its wonderful transgressive spirit and became Donna Karan Land. Sigh.
